More About  Mark

Mark Girdler is a retired teacher, Health and Physical Education Department Head, and coach and a former lecturer at OISE/UT. Mark holds a Masters degree in the Science of Education. A life long sport enthusiast, in tennis he was a provincially and nationally ranked junior and is currently provincially and nationally ranked in senior tennis. He is an avid cyclist and environmentalist.

Prior to becoming a teacher he worked in a pro shop stringing and repairing racquets. For 25 years he'd string and repair his school's racquets and the school racquets of friends in the profession. From his experiences in teaching, stringing and racquet repairs, he perceived a need for teachers and schools to have a viable and environmentally responsible option to refurbish, rather than replace, school racquets and so he created MARK'S RACQUET SOLUTIONS.

The company was formed by friends Mark Girdler and Mark Rintoul - hence the name and positioning of the apostrophe - Marks' Racquet Solutions. The two Marks shared a passion for tennis, cycling and the environment. Mark Rintoul brought with him a business sense and work experience from the private sector, while Mark Girdler brought a background in education and racquet stringing and repair. In time, Mark Rintoul moved on to pursue other interests but the two remain friends and tennis practice partners.
